Doing Business Maiden Edition was a Blast!

The attendees of the 2019 Doing Business event consisted mainly listeners of the radio program and personal invites.

The purpose of the program was three-fold:

-To inspire and motivate

-To educate

-To inform

To inspire listeners - Mr.Mbetobong Umoefik spoke about his personal experiences as an entrepreneur who came to Port Harcourt in 1998 and was hawking before he learnt the tailoring trade and established Pride Garments and Wearguard. He has trained several youths courtesy of IOC sponsorships, and received a Presidential handshake from President Goodluck Jonathan.

To educate listeners - Mr. Craig Iredia, founder of Abata Innovations and Codexter, spoke about the many opportunities that are available to entrepreneurs online and how they can use personal development to create more opportunities for themselves by accessing the myriad or learning resources available online. .

To inform - Access Bank elaborated on the various products available to MSMEs that they can take advantage of to grow their enterprises. There were two presentations. The first presentation, made by Gbemisola Ajibulu, elaborated the several opportunities available to women business owners, and the second presentation, made by Udodirim Agwu, illustrated the opportunities that are available generally to entrepreneurs at Access Bank. .

There was also a short address by Mrs. Jovita Iroemeh, the President of the Association of Womenpreneurs, and she spoke about the many opportunities that are available to Women business owners when they become members of various women bodies.

Finally, there was a Presentation on Cashflow, Product Development and Income Streams by Stephanie Pius. During the presentation Stephanie Pius discussed the various steps required in the development of products for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises. She also told personal stories and elaborated on certain issues that have impacted on the mindsets of people towards doing business. She further encouraged the audience to take personal responsibility for both their personal and business development needs. With regard to funding issues, she encouraged the audience to open up their minds to the Financial Institutions and understand that the banks really do want to invest in MSMEs but that MSMEs need to be willing to go through the process required to get funding.
