How Technology Literacy impacts the environment

Have you ever been in a location whereby you have to print a letter or some other document to take to a business associate because they find it easier to read hard copy? Possibly not. But I currently live in such a location.

I am highly technology literate. I use email, Social Media, Productivity apps, cloud storage, name it - I use it.

However, I am forced to work with people whom you have to call them to inform them that you sent them an email. This doesn't guarantee that they will check the email.

Less than 24 hours later, after much frustration with not getting the urgent response needed you then need to print the same document and head for their office.

Being an environmentalist such as myself, my frustration is two-fold. First I am frustrated by the slow pace of business and advocacy work that I do; and secondly, I am frustrated by the obvious lack of consideration for the environment.

So much paper is being wasted due to the lack of a paperless society.

If more people in Africa could be encouraged to live paperless lives, our environment would benefit immensely.
